Jessica Paolo

Elementary School: Hope Highlands Elementary in Cranston, Rhode Island
College: I will be attending Savannah College of Art and Design, in Savannah, Georgia. It is one of the top art schools in the country, and also one of the largest.
Major: I will be studying the art of 2D and 3D Animation! I have created a plethora of characters and stories, and would like nothing more than to animate them.
What is your dream job?
My dream job would be to create episodes for my very own animated show on Cartoon Network. I also would love to be a storyboard artist, and collaborate with other series creators!

“CHS is where I discovered what being ‘Jessica Paolo’ really meant, and it’s where I learned to love everything that it meant.”

Who was your favorite teacher or administrator during your time at CHS? What subject did they teach? What made her or him special?

Ms. MacDonald was by far one of the best teachers that I have ever had. I was in her art classes for all four years of high school, and learned a lot along the way. She taught me that art is never finished, can always be improved, and takes many different forms. She encouraged me to think about a career in art, and helped me to become the artist that I am today.

What is something about CHS that people might not know, but should?

There are plenty of opportunities to succeed here. There are so many clubs to join, people to meet, and activities to participate in. It’s all about how you take advantage of those opportunities. During my time at CHS, I participated in art contests, class events, club activities, and even spoke in the Senior Oratorical. None of that would had happened if I didn’t get involved.

What advice would you give to next year’s ninth grade students coming to CHS?

Find something that you love. Then, seek out resources or other students that will help you become great at it. If you can find a dream worth pursuing, you can set goals for yourself, and grow at an unimaginable rate. Use everything at your disposal to chase your dreams. It is possible.

What makes CHS special? Why?

CHS is a special place to everyone, and for different reasons. For me, it’s because the school is where I was able to fully realize my potential both artistically and academically. It’s where I learned to become social, and made countless friends and acquaintances. It’s where I discovered what being “Jessica Paolo” really meant, and it’s where I learned to love everything that it meant.
